The Healing of the Seven Generations will be hosting a two-day First Peoples Healing Conference in February 11-12, 2019 at Bingemans Conference Centre.

The conference will feature an all First Peoples (First Nations, Inuit and Métis) lineup, with workshops, speakers, performances, panels, discussion groups, a Library of Experiences, a kid’s area with specialized programming, Knowledge Keepers, Seers, Medicine People, and Elders from many nations; a Sweat Lodge, a Sacred Fire, an Inuit Qulliq, ceremonies, a local First Peoples history tour, First Peoples medicine and foods teachings, as well as healing, singing, drumming, and dancing circles. We will also feature First Peoples artisans, crafters, and other vendors, particularly those from the Region in our vendors area. Panels and discussion groups will utilize local voices, especially those with lived experience, wherever possible.

We hope this conference will provide useful healing opportunities for First Peoples suffering from the intergenerational legacy of the residential school system and learning opportunities for the wider community on First Peoples cultures and realities in their paths towards reconciliation.

Limited free childcare spaces will be available for those who need it, with specialized children’s programming.

KEYNOTE SPEAKERS:

We have confirmed the Honourable Sentator Murray Sinclair for the evening of February 11, 2018, and Comedian Don Burnstick for the evening of February 12, 2018.

Full schedule will be released soon!
